Applied Ecological Services, Inc. (AES) will present information on the Lower Little Rock Creek watershed concerning the following watershed characteristics:

    • Geology
    • Pre-Settlement Conditions
    • Topography
    • Subwatersheds
    • Soils
    • Jurisdictions & Demographics
    • Code & Ordinance Review
Additionally, we are fortunate enough to have local resident and IDNR Stream Biologist Steve Pescitelli planning to join us at the March 18th meeting. Steve has offered to discuss the attached Fox River Basin report. Steve has been involved in sampling Little Rock Creek over the past 25 years.

The meeting on January 29th covered the AES field inventory of the Little Rock Creek tributaries. (Slides HERE) AES broke down the Lower Little Rock Creek area into a grid and observed the creek conditions relating to the extent of erosion, bank height, and channel width. From the field observations, AES created a list of best management practices (BMPs) for improving or maintaining the ecological health of the area. One of the critical areas identified by AES was the potential removal of the dam and bridge in the Little Rock Creek Forest Preserve. We also clarified the area included in this Little Rock Creek Watershed study to be comprised of the lower third of the entire Little Rock Creek watershed. To avoid any confusion going forward, we will refer to this study as the Lower Little Rock Creek Watershed Plan study.
